Book Review: Angel Fever by LA Weatherly

Willow, Alex and Seb have escaped from Mexico City and the angels, and now they've set up shop in Nevada, training new AKs and planning for the end of angels. But then a spanner's thrown in the works and Alex finds himself on a mission that he can't tell Willow about. Will he survive it -- will Willow?

Review: Heroes by Robert Cormier

So this one was for my ENGLISH LIT EXAM! You'd think that meant I hated it, but no, so therefore I am reviewing it.
PS, this review will be just edging on the spoilery, especially if you're good at reading between the lines.
Francis Cassavant has just come back home from the War and he has no face. But that's how he wants it to be. The War -- and the events that occurred before he left to fight it -- have taken their toll, and he doesn't want to be recognised. Not before his final mission is complete.

Series review: Weather Wardens by Rachel Caine

I have finally finished reading all nine books of the Weather Wardens series, and I thought I'd tell you what a gem it is just in case you've never found it before.
Because, Darlin', this is the best thing that will cross your TBR shelf.

Book Review: Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick

I know, I know. Behind the times, again. You still love me, though, right?

Review: Sanctum by Sarah Fine

Lela has dreamt of hell for years... and now she's going back there. Willingly. Lela is desperate to save her friend Nadia from her fate, but Malachi, Captain of the Suicide City's Guards, isn't as eager. He may be ruthless and necessarily dangerous, but he doesn't want Lela risking her second life.
Unfortunately, she's the one other human in the city with a mind of their own.

Review: The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Yes, 18 days after its release, book 2 in the Mara Dyer trilogy came in the post! Yes! Then I read it in about six hours. Damn.
Mara's family are even more worried about her mental health, but that's not Mara's biggest problem. Or at least, she doesn't think it is. That's before she's a prisoner in her own home, a home that is no longer safe. At least she still has Noah...

Review: Revived by Cat Patrick

Yay! A book by one of my new favourite authors! Yay!
Daisy has died five times; she has been Revived five times; she has changed her name and relocated to a new state five times. But this time, she doesn't want any of that: she wants life.

Review: Existence by Abbi Glines

Okay those of you who have read this will know exactly why I was all OMFG when I read the blurb on my Kindle -- I love this type of guy character -- but for those of you who haven't read it yet (but definitely should), I won't ruin it the way it did for me, since you don't find out what on earth Dank actually is for AGES.
Pagan has always seen souls; she's used to it. But when one unexpectedly speaks to her, her world turns upside-down... and that's before the kid without a body ends up enrolloing in her school as rockstar singer Dank out of Cold Soul. What will she tell her boyfriend?

Review: Grave Memory by Kalayna Price

Yup, this is an OH. MI. GO. SH. Moment. It's out, yay! I already finished it, yay! There doesn't seem to be any sign of when the next one will be out, even though it ended on a GIANT cliffhanger, ya-wait a second.

Yet again, Alex Craft's life is grand. No, really. Rianna's back in the real world (for most of the time), they've got an office for Tongues for the Dead, and Falin is back in her life. Unfortunately, Rianna is there only because Alex can't see, the office is a Hell-hole, and Falin is there simply as an FIB agent raiding her house. Again. Plus Death hasn't spoken to her for a month. I know, downer. Now all she needs is a ghost telling her that he didn't commit suicide, despite all of the witnesses that say he did.
 Oh, great.

Review: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Yep, I'm back again. And I've read some books. Hurray!

Mara's lost her memory. She's lost her best friend. But has she lost her mind?
When she begs her parents for a move to Florida instead of a move to a psychiatric hospital, she thinks that maybe everything will be alright. Instead, she continues to see her dead friends in the mirror, and now she's seeing the deaths of others -- before they've died. If her sanity wasn't enough to worry about, her new school's player-and-proud, Noah, has started sniffing around her. Can she keep her sanity and her heart together?

Review: The Golden Lily

So, the review bit is a lie. By now, I am so shockingly biased towards anything in the land of Vampire Academy that it really isn't worth anyome asking for my honest opinion, but hey! Any chance to convert vampire fans to the cause of good vampire books, right?
The Golden Lily is the second book in the Bloodlines series (a spin-off from the Vampire Academy series). It's all based around Sydney, an Alchemist -- a human tasked with hiding vampires from the rest of her species -- and her issues with her new mission to keep Jill Mastrano Dragomir, sister of the Moroi queen, from all the scary rebel people. Unfortunately, Jill has had to bring a bit of an entourage. There's Eddie, the guardian who's in love with her; Angeline, a Keeper and dhampir who's been kept away from the real world all her life; and her big-brother figure, Adrian. In this book of the series, not only is Adrian a total (hot) pain in the arse, but Sydney also has to fight vampire hunters... and her very own Alchemist demons.

Review: Destined by Aprilynne Pike

For those of you who haven't read this series yet, (a) you should have, (b) don't let the whole 11+ thing put you off, because simpler writing has its benefits, and (c) this is the last one in the series, so you might not wanna look at this review. Sorry.
We all know what we're waiting for in this book: Laurel to make her choice between David and Tamani. But all sorts of other stuff is going on too -- they've finally determined Yuki's caste and gotten her caught, but Klea's still out there, and the both of them bode seriously ill for the whole of Avalon. Can Laurel, Chelsea, David and Tamani (with the help of Shar and Jamison) save the world from Klea's tyranny... and save themselves?

Review: Twice Dead by Kalayna Price

I know, I know, maybe I should stop reading all these Kalayna Price novels... no, that's not gonna happen.
Kita found the rogue, and everything is dandy. Or it would be. She's still a vamp, she still can't touch her cat, and there might still be tagged humans out there. And don't forget that the judge is breathing down her neck.
Yup. Everything's dandy.

Review: Once Bitten by Kalayna Price

Like I said before, this is all I seem to be reading, but what the hay.
Kita Nekai has been in the human world for five years, and life hasn't been too bad. She's hidden from the hunters who want to take her home because she's the heir to a clan, and she's had to get by by turning into a little calico cat and living as a pet, but life has been great. Of course, in the world of books, that means that her life has to change dramatically. She gets turned into a vampire and told that she has to find the rogue shapeshifter that has been terrorising the city of Haven in the next forty-eight hours, or her life, her vampire master's life, and her childhood friend Bobby the bobcat's life will be forfeit.

Review: Grave Dance by Kalayna Price

For those of you reading chronologically, yes, this does seem a bit like Kalayna day. Books by Kalayna Price seem to be pretty much all I'm reading right now. [Slight SPOILERS of Grave Witch inside btw]
Alex Craft is not skint anymore (hurray), but right now that would be the least of her worries anyway -- Death shocked her with a confession of love, and yet won't talk to her, her sort-of boyfriend Falin Andrews has gone AWOL, she's not completely human, and, what's more, left feet are beginning to turn up in her home city of Nekros, and her grave sight is malfunctioning enough to cause tears in reality. Yippee!

Review: Grave Witch by Kalayna Price

This is a book that I completely forgot to review... but that doesn't mean its not awesome. In fact, this series is one of my current favourites.
Alex Craft is a Grave Witch -- she can straddle the void between life and death and give shades (the memories of dead people) life. Other than being totally skint, Alex's life has been great... but now she's being paid to investigate the death of a prominent senator for a no-magic-or-fairies group, and all hell is close to breaking loose. Even Death can't save her now.

Review: The Radleys by Matt Haig

It doesn't seem like the normal vamp-romance book, right? Weird, you people haven't even read it (probably) and you're already spot-on. Freaks.
My mum picked this up from somewhere in the kids section of my local WHSmiths, so Lord knows what it was under/what it was supposed to be under (a book called Single White Vampire was, like, right next to Twilight -- you don't wanna know how totally wrong that was), but it was pretty grown-up for a kids book. Basically, The Radleys was one of those clever literature-y things about the psychology of modern man or whatever... but with vampires. Yeah, I know.
It was great. I totally loved it, though it isn't my type of book. Which is why I feel bad reviewing it. I mean, I'm not even sure what kind of genre it is, and Hell if I can explain what it actually is. Besides that, I was expecting something a little more like, for example, Morganville -- it was, according to the reviews plastered all over the cover and front page, shockingly witty/funny/amusing. Someone wrote that it was Twilight, but funny.
I didn't laugh once, and there were only a few times when I could even recognise that it might be funny to other people. Now maybe I'm thick, but I usually at least get jokes, even if I don't find them funny. Also, I am utterly ignoring the comment that it was like Twilight, as it was like Twilight in the way that both contain vampires, humans, and a relationship between the two. Hmm.
Ignoring my idiocy/bad PR, it was amazing. Totally cool, intriguing, and long enough to keep me occupied for a while. Awesome.
So, despite the weird reviews, it gets five stars. Hurray.
 Vampy fan out!

Series Review: Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I have a secret to tell you: the first time I read the Hunger Games trilogy was just a week or two ago. I know. Shock, disgust, horror. I may just be a YA barerian. I bet that's not even the way you spell 'barbarian', is it?
Mind games.
Okay, so, refocus. Maybe there's some people out there who, like me, have never been that fussed by reading the Hunger Games, but have decided to since the film is coming out. So I decided to write a review for those awesome people.

It's about time I plugged the Vampire Academy series

As the title suggests, this post is all about the awesomeness that is Vampire Academy (and Bloodlines), though I can't fairly review any of them since it's been such a long time since I read the first one the first time, and I wouldn't want to write a review for something that I have found a love of due to other books in the series -- not to say that VA#1 isn't awesome -- or write a review for one of the newer ones and leave some of you awesome people out just because you're ignorant.
Just read them, and I will be your best friend forever. If you're into your paranormal-romance, but find Bella way too wimpy, then this is the series (serieses (?) including Bloodlines) for you.
Also... the Vampire Academy series has an awesome, happy ending -- but not too happy or cheesy or out of the realm of believability for those of you sick of Twilight.
This whole series gets five stars.
VA fan out!
